Quality Control
Mackle Petfoods are committed to producing quality products, and as a result we take all precautions to ensure that our products reaches the customer in a satisfactory manner.
Our production practices as well as the finished product must adhere to stringent quality control criteria and legal requirements in order for the product to be released for sale.

Quality checks are carried out by our dedicated quality control team at frequent stages in the production process, these include:
- Sensory analysis and temperature testing of raw ingredients are carried out to verify accordance with the required specifications before the shipment is approved and can be unloaded.
- All raw ingredients are passed through a metal detector before production of that batch begins. The detectors are challenged daily with test samples of metallic particles to ensure compliance.
- Product is tested at each stage of the production process to ensure it is at the prescribed temperature.
- In the dry production process moisture content is measured to ensure it is within the prescribed specification.
- We operate a positive release procedure where a sample of the finished product is stored for ten days before it is delivered out. During this time it is incubated at 55°C to ensure no gas is produced by a defective batch, therefore causing damage to the product.
- X-ray analysers measure the fill weights of our cans and reject any that do not meet the required level.
- Weight checks ensure cans and bags have not been under filled.
- Seal checks are carried out following each changeover of lids and prior to filling to ensure that leakage will not occur. These are carried out every four hours afterwards, with frequent visual inspection throughout the day.
